What's typical for The 80s Duel
The 80s Duel is exactly what it says: every song in the pool was released between 1980 and 1989. Europe, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Roxette and Madonna are the artists that come up most often, and just over a fifth of the songs are Swedish – synth-pop and Swedish radio rock alongside the biggest hits of the MTV era.
The level is Easy. This is a decade whose choruses most people know even without having lived through it, so the list works for younger groups too – but anyone who was a teenager in the 80s has a clear edge, which is rather the point of a duel.
Good for a 40th or 50th birthday party, a retro night, or a group that wants to compete generation against generation. Want to move forward in time? 90s & 00s is the next step.
